PROJECT 3

Week of April 5:

So for my idea, I decided to do something more slow pace, a little more emotional. I am going to do a scene where I am having a conversation with my younger self (age 9). We are going to be going back and forth the entire video as the younger me find out new things about present day me. So this week I initially started taking reference videos. And uploading them into premiere just to get a sense of the direction I want to go in. I was able to get a sample intro done.

Week of April 12:
I have finally began the animating stage of the project. After I have gathered enough reference shots, I threw out the bad ones and reshot the ones I kept for better quality. Now, I am taking reference videos of my kid self and uploading them into Toon Boom. I am rotoscoping each video, mostly by every 2 frames, and I have upped the FPS to 30 in order to sync up with the real dialogue.  The process of course is extremely tedious, but when I'm done, I plan on exporting the videos as PNG images so I can use my own personal black and white backgrounds.

Week of April 19:
So I have came to the realization that I was a little too ambitious, and trying to rotoscope everything in full truly is a tough task. I have completely changed the direction of the project. I am no longer going with the sad, slow, quiet, black and white theme and decided to go for something a little more light hearted and humorous. I have decided to just export the animated scenes normally out of the software to same time from doing the PNG way. This has led me to using normally but highly contrasted colors. Some scenes have been animated using  lip sync instead of rotoscoping for time reasons. I decided to keep the quiet tone, with only light music playing in the back and sound effects edited and uploaded through Audition. But this is the home stretch and I'm getting this done regardless.
