Get Over It Already

My idea for this project was originally going to be about the aftermath of surviving a horror movie slasher/killer. However, I had a hard time getting footage for this idea because I didn't know where to go with the plot. So instead I changed my idea to about Trauma. It was a very risky move to do this, but I felt really compassionate about bringing light to this serious topic. I don't necessarily have a week-by-week process for this project because I changed the idea kinda at the last minute. I'll still post my work in progress though while also explaining my concept.

Week 1: Storyboard

This is basically my story for my previous idea, and to make things a little easier on me I basically used the same scenes, but with a different approach. Instead of getting over a serial killer attack and a death of a friend,  I changed it to where Archy is struggling to settle back into her normal life after experiencing a domestic abusive relationship.

Week 2-4 Shooting and Editing

Alright, not going to lie here, I didn't have a week solely for shooting or editing. Kinda just mixed them in together to get this project done. I had a lot of fun filming and creating this project. It felt therapeutic to me given that these kinds of events actually happened to me. Thanks to Christopher Lockhart, a communication arts major, he helped me tremulously with renting out the Canon Rebel T6i, teaching me some things with adobe premiere, and being a character in my film. I have to say my favorite part of the editing process was doing the music from the headphones effect. Below are some screenshots of some scenes and makeup tests. Also brought back someone that you guys have already met before :).

Concept Explanation

Trauma is a very serious topic and with a subject like this, I needed more time to tell the story. It's not very fun to deal with it. It's painful to know that an individual that I used to love and cared about hurt me the way that he did. He left not only actual scars on me but psychological scars that I feel as though can't heal. Whenever someone goes through a traumatic event, whether it's a car accident, being a bystander of an accident, or being part of a domestic abusive relationship, their reality, and the world as they change drastically. Most people who experience are later diagnosed with PTSD (which is what I have). If not taken seriously, trauma can lead a person to a path of self-destruction and even addiction. They would do whatever it takes to not be in that position of hurt and horror again.
