I honestly chose this music video just because it was the first music video I could think of, but it has a lot of good story and small details that bring it to life. Taylor Swift was involved in several controversies in the years prior to this video, and she was often made out to be the villain, and this was her return to music despite the haters.
The song is dark and ominous and chaotic, and the visuals capture this sound. The opening scene is in a graveyard after all. There is so much imagery and symbolism as the story of the video progresses from beginning to end and I found it very interesting trying to catch all of the little details Taylor and Joseph Kahn left in this video. Kahn a huge variety of camera techniques and insane special effects to capture the vision for this project. Some of my favorite sequences are the slow-motion car crash scene and the scene where all the different Taylors are fighting for recognition. These scenes stood out to me because of how cinematic and detail-oriented they were.
