Alon_Sims_Project_2

The main theme of the video is a video game title sequence. My goal was to capture the feel of hype and awe when you are looking at the opening cutscene of a video game. My storyboard had to be changed a few times before I came up with my final solution.

I wanted to experiment with typography a little bit, so I added a slash effect into the red sun text. I love the idea of using typography in motion graphics to further set the mood of the video, and this effect gave me the opportunity to express my vision in a more detailed fashion.
I added the motion graphics after I added the sliced text. At this point, I decided to make my project a combination of motion graphics and 2D animation. Not only would this be quicker, but it would also allow me to add more variety in my work.
I implemented a basic start screen, but I did not know how to make my idea of a video game user interface applicable, so I kept it simple. Sometimes, less is more.
I had trouble with thinking about how I wanted to animate this, so I decided to animate this evil energy and feature it as a character in this animation.
I drew an evil version of myself. There are many different cartoon versions of myself in this work, because I think of myself as the main character of my own story, and also my worst enemy at times. Hence, the evil version of myself.
The side scrolling stillframe idea is an idea I got from watching animated tv show openings. I thought it would be a nice addition to the piece, and it gave me more opportunities to experiment with different colors.

The final part of my animation is the last cartoon version of myself in this work. This is me staring off into the distance, contemplating the journey ahead, and how far I have already come. The sun rising in the earlier parts of the animation represents the start of a new day and the individual challenge of overcoming that day. Red invokes the emotion of action, so that is why it is a re occurring color in my animation.
