Project 1_ Idea Proposal_Zoe Hagins

For project 1, I decided to do a video about what I do on a Friday as an art student but in my point of view. I decided to film from this perspective because I wanted to show a very small glimpse of what I do on days when I'm normally not on campus and to show some of the objects and software that I often interact with which are paintbrushes, my laptop, mouse, external hard drive, etc. I also wanted to show the difference between working digitally versus traditional as an artist. Filming the video, for the most part, was easy. I had at least 10 minutes worth of film but I cut most of it because it was too long and a good chunk of what was filmed was me on the laptop working in Photoshop and Illustrator working on another project for a different class and I thought it was too stagnant. So, I went on campus to the painting studio because I had to go and I thought it would be interesting to film other projects that I'm working on and the different mediums used.  The scene where I was painting was filmed on my phone because I had oil paint on my hands and I didn't want to get paint on the tripod or the camera. So I had to hold my phone to film that scene. The hardest part of filming is actually stopping doing whatever I was doing and checking the camera to see if it still filming and if it was positioned correctly.  I would film myself working on other projects and I would be so absorbed in the other projects that I forget that I was filming and the camera would be off or out of place. Editing the video was also very easy to do. I added some transitions, some text, and audio. At first, I thought about doing a voice-over of the video but I decided not to because I didn't think it was really necessary and I low-key hate how I sound recorded.
